About

The Syracuse Professional Chapter of Engineers Without Borders was founded in the Fall of 2009 to provide support and professional guidance to the two local student chapters at Syracuse University (SU) and SUNY-ESF.  While our main focus is working with the two student chapters, we are also developing local community projects here in Syracuse.

Our Mission: EWB Syracuse professionals support community-driven development programs locally and worldwide by collaborating with local partners to design and implement sustainable engineering projects, while creating transformative experiences and responsible leaders.

EWB-USA was founded in 2002 at the University of Colorado-Boulder in order to address some of the most prevalent challenges facing the developing world, including water purification and delivery, sanitation, transportation and infrastructure projects, and sustainable and renewable energy systems.  What started as an organization with 18 members and one university chapter has grown to include over 12,000 members and more than 225 university student and professional chapters engaged in over 400 active programs in 45 countries around the world. EWB-USA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) tax exempt corporation created under the laws of the State of Colorado, USA. EWB-USA was created in Fall 2000. EWB-USA is also a member of the Engineers Without Borders – International network.
